Uber

Drive passengers through the Uber Driver app, with eligible ride types determined by your city and vehicle.

What the work is like

Uber offers passenger trips in approved markets. Compare the distance to pickup as well as the ride itself. The time spent waiting for a request or returning from a quiet drop-off affects your shift even when the app shows a strong active-trip rate.

Delivery and catering in the Uber Driver app

Drivers can check the Driver app for eligible delivery options in their area. See Uber Eats deliveries for courier signup, delivery earnings, and catering offers with setup. Passenger rides and deliveries have separate eligibility requirements.

Uber Black and Black SUV

Uber Black is a premium ride type in the Uber Driver app. You need an eligible luxury vehicle with a black exterior and black leather or vegan-leather interior, commercial auto insurance, the permits required for local livery work, and a qualifying driver rating. Check the eligible model list in your city before buying or leasing a car.

When your account qualifies, select Black in driving preferences. The rider pays a premium fare. To compare your own earnings, include commercial insurance, time waiting for requests and the return from a distant drop-off. Uber does not publish a national hourly average for Black drivers.

Uber teen accounts

Drivers who qualify can receive requests marked Teen for riders ages 13–17 using a guardian-authorized family account. Check the trip label and enter the rider’s PIN at pickup. Guardians can follow the ride in their app. These are individual bookings, so a school commute does not guarantee a recurring route.

In parts of California, Uber invites eligible drivers who already hold a TrustLine registration and meet its trip and rating requirements. Check your Driver inbox for local access.
